Moms: Imagine an easy way to get back in the workforce after taking time off for your kids!
My friend Allison O’Kelly, the founder and CEO of Mom Corps, is on a mission to help moms find flexible work without sacrificing the needs of their families. She’s got a great story to tell, and she shares it all on this week’s episode of Glambition Radio.
Allison was on the corporate fast track. She had an MBA from Harvard and was climbing the executive ladder. But everything changed when she had her first child. She found that balancing her corporate gig and her growing family just wasn’t going to work.
So in 2005, Allison founded Mom Corps, a staffing company that helps working moms generate income in a flexible way. Her passion project caught on, and now this stay-at-home CEO (and mom of three boys!) runs a $16 million company from her home. (I love that she practices what she preaches. She explains it in our interview.)
Allison was named one of Ernst & Young’s 2012 Entrepreneurial Winning Women, and Mom Corps was named one of Inc.’s 500 fastest growing private companies in 2013. Visit her website at MomCorps.com to find out more about what she’s doing.
On this episode of Glambition Radio, you’ll hear….
- How Allison “built her plane as she was flying it” (no business plan, no problem)
- Why she opted to go the franchise route, rather than get funding through investors
- Why she and her husband decided NOT to work together (and how they met in grad school ;))
- And her three top business tips for entrepreneurs just starting out (These will save you time, money and stress.)
It’s a great interview, and Allison is just so unassuming and genuine. A true Glambition Gal! You can listen to this episode of Glambition Radio by clicking the play button below. And if you want to hear my most recent episodes head over to iTunes to listen or subscribe for automatic updates.
