Well, I can’t believe it, but we are finally on the other side of the globe.
I’m writing you from the master bedroom balcony of our lovely beach rental in a Sydney beach suburb, overlooking a lush, private backyard with tall trees gently blowing in the ocean breeze. We just caught the very tail end of summer here with unusually warm weather for the month.
The twins did VERY well, considering it was not only their first flight ever at 2 ½ years old, but a 20+ hour trip. (I had to do a lot of deep breathing and gently talk myself through the entire trek.)
It wasn’t easy, but it was worth it.
It’s been priceless to see their faces light up when meeting Brett’s family again, exploring the beaches and coastline, trying new foods, and talking about meeting the kangaroos at the zoo next week.
(Now we’re just dealing with adjusting to the dramatic time zone change and effects of jetlag—like them getting out of bed and waking us up at 3am because they’ve decided it’s “morning”.)
I’m already enjoying the diverse conversations we’re having with people we meet in this very international city, and I think our travels this year are going to expand not only our children’s horizons, but ours.
It’s a new place of discovery and opportunity and joy.
And often this is the exact same feeling we lose in our business as we get to certain levels and plateau.
