I chose to share this book with you because I hope you’ll find as much inspiration as I did when you learn why Jen wrote it. You see, four years into motherhood, Jen was diagnosed with a rare, life-threatening disease, and she was unable to find a book that she could read to her child to explain her illness in an open and honest way. She wanted to tell her son why she couldn’t play as much as before and enhance his understanding of what was happening and what he could expect to happen.
And so, after finding her strength after high-dose chemotherapy and two stem cell transplants, Jen decided to write a story for her son, and the thousands of other young children who are coping with a seriously ill parent or family member. The result is this heartwarming picture book, beautifully illustrated, positive and empathetic, and it’s called: Where Did Mommy’s Superpowers Go?
