Even if you don’t know a Chardonnay from a Cabernet, you’re going to love this delicious episode of Glambition Radio with Deborah Brenner, founder and CEO of Women of the Vine.
In a traditionally male-dominated industry, Deborah created the first of its kind wine company that unites award-winning women winemakers under one brand. And she left a cushy six-figure corporate job to do it.
On the show she shares how a painful divorce was actually the catalyst for her to say “screw this—what do I really want to do?” And a trip to Napa, California was her next soul-searching step.
You’ll have to listen to the show to hear the whole story—it’s incredibly romantic and inspiring. She spent months meeting with women of the wine world, whom no one was really championing, and decided to publish a book called Women of the Vine. A year later, her company was born.
Then the BIG deal came… just last year, Deborah partnered with MORE magazine to launch the first-of-its-kind wine club featuring all-women vintners called “MORE Uncorked”. In fact, the day after our interview, Deborah was jetting off to Napa for her second annual Women of the Vine Grand Tasting in Napa, sponsored by MORE.
On this week’s Glambition Radio, I asked Deborah to share her top 3 success tips. Here’s a sneak preview for you, in her own words:
Tip #1: Learn to be resilient
“I learned this from women winemakers. They’re working for Mother Nature. So when I complain about my computer having glitches, I can fix that. They can’t fix the rain, the snow, the freezing weather we’re having. They have to deal with it, and I’m just in awe of how they do that. The resiliency is just something that I get reminded of all the time.”
Tip #2: Have hope
“The winemakers taught me to have hope and always believe that it will get better. They see harvest after harvest, and they are nurturing the land to give back. It’s about reinvention. That’s a life lesson I never expected.”
(Listening to Deborah’s personal story, you can see how this has impacted her success too.)
Tip #3: Trust in yourself
“You’re going to have a lot of naysayers around you, mostly because of their own fear. Trust in yourself because, at the end of the day, even if you fail over and over, all these failures turn into learning experiences. And then one day you’re going to think… Oh my gosh, I made it!”
Deborah also gave some great tips on how to choose wine (Hint: you don’t have to pay a fortune for an excellent bottle of wine!)
You’re going to love this gal, and what I’ve shared here is just a tiny bit of her wisdom.
