Meet the woman who is probably our MOST controversial guest yet here on Glambition Radio, and she’s known as “the Martha Stewart of Marijuana”.
Her name is Cheryl Shuman, and I’m having her on this week’s episode because she’s a very bold, very interesting leader, on a mission that’s gained a TON of legal and media attention in recent years.
Cheryl has been pioneering the way to legalize marijuana and shift our perception of it. She’s bringing attention to its benefits, the most popular being comfort and pain management to people who have cancer, AIDS, and other health conditions. And she’s created a lucrative business as well with her own local Beverly Hills Cannabis Club, along with consulting, PR, and media for cannabis-related businesses.

As I was doing research for this show (sorry, nothing hands on! ;)), I discovered something I wasn’t aware of… Marijuana has been illegal in the United States only since 1937, and since 1970 it’s been classified as a Schedule I substance, defined as “the most dangerous” drugs “with no currently accepted medical use.” Which we know is untrue.
The biggest stamp of mainstream medical approval I’ve been aware of came in 2013, when CNN Chief Medical Correspondent Dr. Sanjay Gupta came out to support marijuana for medical use. And in 2014 he endorsed it even more strongly, saying he was doubling down on his support of it.
There’s a reason cannabis has been used as a therapeutic agent across many cultures for over 5,000 years. I myself have a few friends who have battled cancer and found incredible relief from their misery with this natural solution.
And now we are experiencing an unprecedented gaining acceptance of marijuana that’s spreading nationwide. Cheryl shares the latest statistics on this week’s episode of Glambition Radio!
Most fascinating to me, The New York Times shares that this legal shift, and the broader cultural one surrounding it, can be attributed in part to the increased acceptance of marijuana by women!
There is a growing number of women who are helping to bring marijuana mainstream and reforming cannabis laws… all kinds of women’s and moms’ organizations that not only supports marijuana use but challenge drug laws while raising awareness for the moms and children whose lives would be improved by medical marijuana access.
Cheryl Shuman, our guest today, is not only riding this giant wave, she’s leading the way as the most visible woman in the medical marijuana movement. She’s built the largest cannabis media source in the world producing content for outlets such as CNN, The Katie Couric show, The View, ABC’s 20/20, Good Morning America, Fox Business, and more. And she’s now managing a $100 MILLION hedge fund investing in the cannabis sector.
