WARNING: I had to label this show “explicit” on iTunes, because we surely “went there” on this one! When Cindy Gallop was 45, she hit a mid-life crisis that drove her to leave an enormously successful international career running one of the world’s top advertising firms to take a massive leap into the unknown. This 2003 “Advertising Woman of the Year’ reinvented herself in every way — personally, professionally, and financially.

In the process she dated younger men and discovered something horrifying that she shares in the interview. (And you will likely roll on the floor laughing!) It drove her to deliver a TED talk in 2009 that became one of the most talked about sessions for years. It was called “Make Love, Not Porn”, and it was the launch of her new mission and platform.

By clicking the button below you can hear Cindy share the explicit moment she knew she had to start a healthy discussion about sex in her Glambition Radio interview.

Cindy makes it clear the mission of MLNP isn’t anti-sex. It’s to make real-world sex as socially acceptable and sharable as anything else we see on social media. She points out that because we hesitate to talk about sex in real life, and even to our children in a healthy way, porn has taken over as a means of default sex education.

(Which is really horrifying when you think about it. On the show, Cindy shares the average age that a child typically first sees hard-core images, and it’s just heartbreaking. No matter how many controls we set and how careful we are as parents, they are likely still going to see it another way.)

Cindy is a great person to lead this discussion in our world because she’s known for getting attention and results. Business Insider named her one of the “15 Most Important Marketing Strategy Thinkers Today”, alongside Malcolm Gladwell and Seth Godin. She’s a known disruptor, describing her consultancy approach as “I like to blow shit up. I am the Michael Bay of business.”

If you’re skittish about strong language and this topic, you may want to skip this particular episode. But if you’re curious, I URGE you to listen. Cindy will open up your ears and your mind about how we have to have real-world discussions about sex to counteract how porn has taken over. I left the interview completely inspired.

AND you’ll learn more about her incredible story and drive. On this episode of Glambition Radio, Cindy and I also discuss changing the world to fit your vision, how to ignore what other people think, and why she’s determined to paint a new picture of the older woman. I know you’ll get a lot out of this episode. So click the play button below and listen to this episode of Glambition Radio now.
