When companies like Microsoft, Starbucks, Amazon, and DreamWorks Animation expand their global reach, they call innovation expert Val Wright to make it happen. Her unique reputation as a growth accelerator makes her one of Clicksoftware’s Top 50 Resources for CEOs, and has earned her a place in the Million Dollar Consultant Hall of Fame. On this week’s episode of Glambition Radio, Val tells us how she went from being a shop-girl to a global business consultant, and why she’s encouraging top executives to be “Thoughtfully Ruthless” with her new book.
When Val was 15, she started a business for a school project and when it turned a profit, an entrepreneur was born. Her first job out of college was working on the sales floor of Harrods department store in London. A promotion allowed her to discover a talent for corporate management, and then she moved on to positions at companies like Amazon, BMW, and Marconi. Val was part of a small team at Microsoft that created the fastest selling device of all time, Kinect for X-box, and a spot in the Guinness Book of World Records.
Over her 25-year career, Val’s learned that intentions are what set exceptional leaders apart from those that are just successful. The best leaders are ruthless in how they spend their time and focus their energy and resources. Her new book, “Thoughtfully Ruthless” is a guide to find the conviction behind the goals you want to reach in your career and personal life.
On this episode of Glambition Radio, Val and I bond over the challenge of raising twins, how to say “no” (and mean it!), and why wishful thinking works. I know you’ll get a lot out of this episode. So click the play button below and listen to this episode of Glambition Radio now.
