Rachel Hofstetter went from being a food lover to the food editor at “O, the Oprah Magazine”. And the stories she wrote about food entrepreneurs with million-dollar ideas inspired her to start her own business. She co-founded Guesterly, a software platform used to create one-of-a-kind magazines for special events like weddings, and she became her own entrepreneur success story.

On this week’s episode of Glambition Radio, Rachel tells us how she got the foodie’s ultimate dream job, why writing a best-seller led to a major career-shift, and how ‘being open to everything’ changed her life.

Early in her writing career, an editor advised Rachel to choose a specialty, so she focused all her energy on becoming a food expert. A few years later, she was hired as an editorial assistant at O, and although she wasn’t working in the food department, Rachel offered up a spec piece on superfoods to show the bosses what she could do. They never ran the article, but her talent and drive did not go unnoticed.

When Rachel became the magazine’s food editor, she aimed her attention at entrepreneurs whose on-the-kitchen-table ideas turned into multi-million dollar businesses. Some of her favorite food start-up stories were published in her best-selling book, “Cooking Up a Business: Ten Food Lovers Who Turned Their Passion Into a Career – And How You Can, Too.”

By clicking the play button below, you can hear how Rachel learned to look out for “a-ha” moments in her Glambition Radio interview here.

While writing the book, Rachel was bitten by the entrepreneurial bug. She developed a passion to connect people in unique ways into multiple business opportunities. After Guesterly was acquired by Chatbooks, she became the VP of Marketing across all the company’s brands, and partnered with my friend Angelia Jia Kim of Savor the Success to create “PR School”, where brand-makers learn how to connect with the media.

On this episode of Glambition Radio, Rachel and I talk apples and oranges, finding your niche, and why you should, “Give, Give and Get.” I know you’ll get a lot out of this episode. So click the play button below and listen to this episode of Glambition Radio now.
