You know her voice, and you know her name. And Rolonda Watts loves a good story. So it’s only natural that the Emmy and Cable Ace award-nominated journalist, talk show host, executive producer, actress, and speaker is adding “author” to her already impressive list of accomplishments.

On this week’s episode of Glambition Radio, Rolonda tells us how having fun can make you rich, why she ended up walking away from her first big TV break, and what compelled her to write her debut novel, “Destiny Lingers.”

I was delighted to meet Rolonda a few years ago at a private retreat with Stedman Graham, but it was just last year that I was watching PBS’s “Curious George” animated series with my children, and my ears suddenly perked up. “I know that voice!” I thought, when I heard Professor Wiseman speak. “That’s Rolonda!”

(Hear me ask her if there truly is any romantic tension between Professor Wiseman and the Man with the Yellow Hat. I bet on it!)

Back in the 90s, Rolonda was already a respected investigative news reporter and weekend anchor in New York City when she was offered her own talk show. She turned it down, but Roger King, the Chairman of King World Television (and producer of “The Oprah Winfrey Show”) saw something in her that she hadn’t seen in herself, and convinced her to give it a try.

“Rolonda” tackled serious topics for four years until sensationalism dominated talk TV, and she’ll share on the interview exactly why she decided to walk away.

Looking for something new, Rolonda took a chance on Hollywood and went on to act in over 25 TV series and a dozen movies.

By clicking the play button below, you can hear how surviving Hurricane Bertha inspired Rolonda’s bookimgfirst novel in her Glambition Radio interview here.

The message of “Destiny Lingers” is that time moves on – and love endures all. Rolonda’s beautifully woven story reminds us that not too long ago people were arrested and sometimes killed for loving across color or gender lines, and many sacrifices were made so we could have the freedom to love.

On this episode of Glambition Radio, Rolonda and I talk about legacy, romance, and “Curious George!” We even delve into the trials and tribulations of dating in LA.
